Merry Christmas to those celebrating it today, or yesterday evening or being Pravoslav, some days later. Enjoy your days and may the next year be successful!

ja head uut aastat Smile

i just ate some traditional xmas food here:
mashed potatoes cooked in the aluminium box in the oven ("box" or "laatikko" food) and ham...

normally in Xmas I eat also some salmon fish and
"rosolli" salad (made of beetroot/red beet, apples, carrot (not raw, cooked and sliced!!),
pickled cucumber, sliced potatoes.. etc.),
but not this year (i forgot)..

what s your favorite & traditional food in christmas??

In Christmas time Estonians usually eat verivorst (black pudding), sült (jellied meat), hapukapsas (sauerkraut), seapraad (pork) and ahjukartulid (potatoes baked in oven). Our family usually also eats kartulisalat (potato salad), seened (mushrooms), hapukurgid (pickled cucumbers) and kasukas (kind of red salad with herring and beetroot). We drink glögi (glogg).

Helena: "sült" means "baked meat" in Hungarian.(pronounce: shült)

@telkola: Stuffed cabbage is a regularly eaten meal between the two holidays in late December in Hungary, just like in my family this year too.
