Fidesz party in Hungary

I’m trying to follow political situation in our part of Europe but having limited trust to Polish and especially English media outlets, which by the way often ignore this issue, this is difficult to find out the true. I know that Fidesz already twice in a row lost parliamentary elctions. Later after you PM had this super moment of honesty, Fidesz managed to won regional elections. Do they keep the advantage over commies in polls? Once I have read interesting article with compared this party to our PiS (ruling party), Victor Orban was showed as a bit populistic social-conservative. How do you see this?

Yes, as for the present statistics Fidesz (Young Democrats' Alliance) has twice as many voters as the commies (MSZP - Hungarian Socialist Party). Viktor Orbán is a bit populistic among some of the supporters of the Fidesz, but not more than Ferenc Gyurcsány among his.
Unfortunately, here, in the 90's the people who had enough power to gain profit of the privatizations, got the best places in companies had been the members of the old regime--> commies. So most of the media too is controled by them ---> MSZP and SZDSZ(liberals) members and supporters. That is why media likes to exaggarate things on the right-wing, like: "Orbán Viktor is dangerous to democracy"...(but Gyurcsány is far not that dangerous according to those medias, not even now). And that is why there is a great brain-washing on television. Such as for news and TV-programmes. This way the newer gernerations will be capable of trusting for demagoges. I could talk alot about this part too...
Fidesz is much rather socialdemocrat than the MSZP, even media admits.
MSZP is in coalition with the liberals (SZDSZ), isn't it a paradox? Liberals with socialists? Someone must lie as for orientation. Yeah, MSZP leads neoliberal politics to be able to sell more of the country...

As for my part I vote for Fidesz. I don't consider Viktor Orbán my "personal leader", and the party itself isn't that symphatic for me, but THERE IS SIMPLY NOTHING ELSE!

One could think that you write about Polish reality! This is exactly the same here. I don’t really support my current government because they are very socially minded but have a bit of sympathy because all of these ridiculous media attacks. About “danger for democracy ” this seems to be common argument for all leftists these days and this is funny if you consider history, hypocrites… Even recently Sarkozy (he speak Hungarian?) in France was a threat.

About coalition with liberals, the same here. SLD (commies) and PD (liberals, many former members of communist party here as well). I’m economical liberal myself but I don’t want to have ANYTHING to do with those crooks. Those liberal are favorites of mass media and George Soros. (despite of that they have maximum 3% support ) Soros also support the same kind of people in Hungary? He raised in Hungary after all, how influential he is in your country?

Ohh, I always wanted to know about the standings in other Visegrád countries, like Poland, so it is indeed the same there! Oh man! We should really renew our Polish-Hungarian relations and do something against this.
Yeah, Sarkozy (Sárközy originally) is of Hungarian origin as well as George Soros (Soros György). Well, he is becoming more and more influental but of course I don't expect any good from him.
By the way, on which side is Lech Wałesa at present? Once I heard that many people don't like him anymore (or not only "anymore"?)
To which party belong the Kacinsky twins?

Sure we sure cooperate more, Visegrad group is good start. This is always harder if we have no common border anymore.

What I would like to know about Fidesz is what is their stance towards EU constitution. Do they support government position on this and if not what they want to change.

Walesa needs the new thread, I don't want to trash this one with Polish issues too much.

So, as far as I know, they are against EU constitution.

Against in all forms or against this particular project? This is quite important issue recently, Poland's and Hungary's position will decrease very much if German presidency would succeed to push the new German-minded voting system.

Huh, I should gain more informations about this. In Hungary media and everything is rather engaged with the dramatical fall of the living standard thanks to our old commies currently in power.
